Adelaide and surrounds, in your kitchen

Sell gold and silver jewellery in Adelaide

Chris and Sharon visit your kitchen table to weigh, test and value your pieces. Broken chains, single earrings, old wedding bands, estate sets, everything looked at in front of you, no piece taken away.

Just curious what it is worth?

A lot of sellers want a rough number before they book a visit. That is fine. Here is how to get one.

How do I find out what my gold is worth?

Plug the weight and karat into our free estimate calculator, or send a few photos through the contact form and Chris can sanity-check a rough number before booking. The final price always comes from weighing and testing at your table, but you can have a working ballpark in your head first.

Can I get a price without committing?

Yes. The kitchen-table visit is a free in-home valuation. Chris weighs, tests and calculates an offer in front of you. If the offer does not suit, we shake hands and we leave. We do not haggle, and we do not pressure. Our offer is our offer, and walking away is part of the process.

What you can sell, and what we won’t take

A short, plain list. If a piece is not on here, send Chris a photo and we will let you know.

What you can sell to us

  • Gold jewellery in 9 ct, 14 ct, 18 ct, 22 ct and 24 ct
  • Broken pieces, scrap, single earrings, tangled chains, missing stones
  • Sterling silver jewellery, marked .925
  • Sterling silver flatware and silverware, full sets or part, broken pieces fine
  • Cutlery handles marked sterling
  • Pure refined silver bullion
  • Solid gold watches and sterling silver watches
  • Dental gold
  • Gold bullion (bars, ingots, refined)
  • Platinum, available but rare. Mention it on the call.
  • High-value gem diamonds, typically one carat and up, in settings like wedding and engagement rings
  • Opal
  • Silver-filled items, by negotiation, paid at the silver rate
  • Copper-filled items, by negotiation, paid at the copper rate

What we can’t take

  • Costume jewellery
  • Gold-plated, gold-filled, gold-tone, including gold-filled chains
  • Silver-plate cutlery and silver-plate ornaments
  • Lab-grown diamonds
  • Industrial or run-of-the-mill diamonds, gem-quality only
  • Watches that are not solid gold or sterling silver. Rolex (most copies on the market are fake), Omega stainless, Breitling stainless.
  • Enamel jewellery

Not sure what your piece is? A clear photo of the hallmark is usually enough for Chris to give you a ballpark before we visit.

How Much We Pay for Your Gold & Silver Items

A fixed share of the current spot value, the same number for everyone, every visit. Same rates for private sellers, jewellers, solicitors and executors.

  • Gold, every karat90% of gold value
  • Sterling silver (jewellery and silverware)70% of silver value
  • Pure refined silver bullion$100 per ounce on the spot
  • PlatinumLess than gold, mention on the call
  • Dental goldAssessed on the day
  • Gold bullionAssessed on the day

Worked example. If your pieces weigh out to $2,000 of gold value, we pay $1,900. Same maths whether it is a single broken chain or a full estate lot.

No haggling. The offer is the offer. Chris tests, weighs and calculates a payout at the table, and that is the price.

Paid immediately. Cash on the spot, PayID, bank transfer, or any combination. No upper limit, including $15,000-plus visits.

Same rates for business clients. Jewellers downsizing or closing, solicitors and executors handling deceased estates, antique dealers with overflow, pawn shops offloading stock. Our prices are the same for everybody.

Transparent valuation

What we look at, purity, weight, gemstones

The whole valuation happens on your kitchen table. Nothing is taken away for a back-of-shop check. You watch every step.

Karat purity at a glance

  • 9 ct37.5% gold
  • 14 ct58.5% gold
  • 18 ct75% gold
  • 22 ct91.6% gold
  • 24 ct99.9% gold

Gemstones are noted, but generally bought as scrap weight unless the stone has independent resale value (a diamond with a current certificate, or a substantial coloured stone). If you have stones you want appraised separately, mention it on the call and we will bring the relevant gear.

Our offer is our offer. Once Chris tests, weighs and calculates a payout, that is the price we pay, we do not haggle. Documented offers and a written receipt every time, items, weight, karat, payout, and date.

Free in-home valuation. No call-out fee, no inspection fee, no booking fee. We only earn when a piece sells, and only on the agreed offer.

Multiple visits welcome. If you find more pieces later, call us back. No minimum value, no minimum item count, no extra call-out fee.

Estate jewellery

Estate and deceased-estate jewellery

Family pieces deserve a calm valuation. We work with executors, solicitors, and families through the whole estate process, never rushed, never pressured.

The same two named people come every visit, Chris and Sharon, not a rotating stranger. We can liaise with an estate executor or solicitor directly if that is easier for the family. More about our estate work.

What jewellery is worth right now

We price off the daily LBMA gold spot. The maths is the same whether you have one broken earring or a substantial estate lot.

Weight grams
Purity 9, 14, 18, 22, 24 ct
Spot price today's market
Refining margin small and fixed
Offer to you written on the notebook

Silver works the same way against the silver spot. No fixed buy-price number because the market moves daily, but the formula does not.

How the in-home visit runs

  1. Book. Call Chris on 0411 108 170, or use the contact form. Most weeks we can be at your table within two business days.
  2. Visit. We bring scales, a jeweller’s loupe, professional gold-testing tools, and a notebook. We sort, weigh, test, and walk you through each piece.
  3. Paid. Cash on the spot at the visit, before we leave the table. If the offer does not suit, we shake hands and we leave.

Trade, estate and business enquiries

Trade, estate and business enquiries

Jewellers downsizing or closing, solicitors handling deceased estates, executors liquidating estate jewellery, antique dealers with overflow, pawn shops offloading non-moving stock. We work with you privately and at your own pace.

Same rates as private sellers. We like to form close working relationships with regular trade clients and arrange a stable approach based on volume and frequency. Chris values each piece in person at the visit. We do not provide separate written valuation documents, valuation happens live with you in the room.

Drop a note via the booking form with “Trade”, “Estate” or “Probate” in the subject, and we will arrange a visit at a time that works for you.

A note on stolen jewellery

A note on stolen jewellery

We do not condone or buy stolen jewellery.

If anything about a piece looks off, Chris will not buy it. He will contact the authorities and help with serial-number checks where possible. Over the years we have also helped victims of theft try to recover pieces of value to their family.

Refunds and change of mind

Purchase is final at the point of payment. We will not pressure anyone to sell, and we want every decision made at the table, not the next day.

For deeply sentimental pieces, Chris and Sharon may, case by case, hold the item for up to two weeks if circumstances warrant. This is rare and offered at our discretion. In Sharon’s words, “if it is sentimental and they really need the money, we will hold on to it for two weeks, but we really don’t like doing that.”
