Live estimate, in your kitchen

What is my gold worth in Adelaide?

Get a rough idea of what your gold, silver, platinum or bullion is worth before Chris pays you a visit. Pop in the weight and the karat or material below, and the calculator runs the maths against today's spot price and the percentages Chris pays at the table. The figure is an estimate, not a locked offer. Chris confirms the actual number at your kitchen table after he tests and weighs each piece in front of you.

    How the calculator works

Four inputs, one result. Here is the logic the calculator runs in the background, in plain English.

    Live spot price

The calculator pulls the daily gold, silver and platinum spot price from public market data, converted to AUD per gram. Updated every day, so the estimate moves with the market.

    Karat or material

9 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat, 22 carat, 24 carat gold, sterling silver, pure silver bullion, platinum, dental gold, or bullion gold. Each is calculated against the right purity factor.

    Weight in grams

Type the weight in grams. The calculator multiplies weight x purity x spot, then applies the pay percentage Chris uses for that category. One number out, no hidden steps.

    Verified at your table

The visit confirms the estimate. Chris acid-tests each piece, checks the hallmark with a loupe, weighs on a calibrated scale, and walks you through what each piece tested as. The actual offer reflects the verified result.

Estimate now, sell at the visit

The calculator is honest about what it can and cannot do. It gives you a fair starting number based on today's spot and the pay percentages Chris uses across the board. What it cannot do is tell what your piece actually tests as. A 14 carat ring stamped 14 carat that turns out to be plated reads differently on the acid test than on the calculator. A worn 9 carat chain with a clasp in a different karat needs the loupe to sort out. That is why every offer is verified at your table, not over the phone.

The flow is simple. Use the calculator to decide if a visit is worth your time. If the numbers look about right, get in touch and Chris arranges a time that suits. Sharon comes along for engagement and safety. Chris tests each piece, weighs it, and shows you the working. You see the result, you decide on the day. Walk away if the offer does not suit. No pressure, no chasing. The estimate is yours to use as a sanity check.

Pieces vary. The calculator assumes a stamped karat is the real karat. Plated, gold-filled, rolled-gold or mixed-purity pieces test differently. Chris tells you at the table what each piece is. No charge if a piece comes back plated, you just keep it.

"Chris was upfront about what each piece was worth and showed us exactly how he tested it. The estimate I worked out at home was close to what we got. Easy to follow, no pressure."

"Used the calculator as a sanity check before booking. The visit number lined up. Sharon was lovely and made my mum feel comfortable through the whole thing."
